Kabab & Grill Review: Kabab grill and goaty stew

I was actually on my way to go check out Macaron Cafe but I was swayed by the huge 'Internet Access' banner. Why eat food when you can feed your body with broadband? The Kabab Grill attracted my attention because what's better than kababs when it's twenty degrees outside? As it turned out, it wasn't really a kabab grill, but actually a place that has Pak-Indian food and Latin food. This is the second time in midtown where I saw an Indian place next to a Spanish food place, all inside the same place. Does that make any sense? Basically the Kabab Grill is one store, and inside,...

Del Posto Review: Del Posto has a fabulous lunch deal

Del Posto has one of the best lunch deals in New York. Lately I've been really into deals, however I'll get into that more at the end of this post. Generally I wouldn't have time to really enjoy a sit down meal for lunch, but I took a day off to enjoy the ability to have a nice lunch at a NYTimes four-star restaurant. For dinner, Del Posto is a quite a bit more expensive. If you have the means to go at dinner, hey why not? But if you're looking for a steal of a meal, going for lunch is probably the way to go. For...

Ponche Taqueria Review: Three tacos from Ponche in Midtown

On the way to a roof top bar a few weeks ago, Steph and I walked by a Mexican restaurant that had an A grade in the window. It reminded me of getting a torta from Rinconcito Mexicano because it seems that whenever you walk west of 8th avenue in Midtown, you start to get into better options for Mexican food. What I love about Ponche is that it bills itself as an authentic Mexican restaurant AND it has an A from the health department. How dare they upset my perception of the kind of grades a Mexican restaurant can receive? Seeing as I prefer my bunghole...

Air France airplane food

I've been reading travel blogs and about the tales of travel hackers. There's a lot of folks out there that travel for business, and then take those miles and use them for pretty awesome vacations. They used to get airline miles by tricking the U.S. Mint into an ultimately poor business transaction, but basically you see lots of people who use miles to fly business or first class for long haul flights. For the rest of us minions, we fly coach, because honestly, who the fuck has money for business class. So let's talk about flying coach for a minute. In the U.S., they rename it to...

El Rey del Sabor 2 (location may change) Review: El Rey del Sabor by Bryant Park

"A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better Coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the Cokes are the same and all the Cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it." The Internets tell me this quote is from Andy Warhol. Of course you can't get foodies to agree on that, because coke in Mexico is supposed to be vastly superior to coke in the U.S., and Obama could probably import some Mexican coke to the White House kitchen pretty easily. The beauty of...
