There's a dish out there right now that makes you feel like you're pushing a lawnmower on a hot July day. It makes you struggle and sweat. You start to question your resolve. In fact, this dish would actually ignite Guy Fieri's hair on fire. Danny Bowien brought Mission Chinese Food to the Lower East Side this year and his Mapo Tofu is too legit to quit. It's priced aggressively at $12.5, although 75 cents of each entree goes to the Food Bank NY, which is a very worthy cause. So really the dis is $11.75, which puts it right at the cusp of what mapo tofu costs in New York City. There are no lunch specials at Mission Chinese Food, even though they are open for lunch. The Mapo Tofu dish could easily feed two though. Eating it made me feel like eating sichuan food...

This past Monday was President's Day and to celebrate our new president, I made some of his chili. You can check out the recipe over at HuffPo. It's a pretty straight forward recipe that calls for onion, green pepper, tomatoes, and red kidney beans. President Obama's spice mixture calls for equal parts of cumin, oregano, tumeric, and basil. There are a few other ingredients but overall, it's a very simple recipe for chili. I wanted to see how Obama's chili would stack up to another chili, so I went and bought a can of chili to compare.
